You say it’s your birthday

Well, technically, it’s not.  That would be yesterday.  But today’s the day we’re officially “celebrating” as a family, so we can pretend yesterday never happened.

This year I turn 39.  Yep, I’m just 12 short months away from “The Big One.”  That gives me 364 days to try to somehow reclaim my youth before I become old to everyone, not just teenagers.

My life is very different on this birthday from what it was a year ago.  Last year, I was working 2 jobs.  This year, my one job has increased to the point where I am able to continue to stay home and actually help contribute to the family finances.  Last year, I was on staff at PCBC and over-involved in many different ministries, both paid and volunteer.  This year, we are no longer members of PCBC having joined McFBC after Easter, and at this point I’m still searching for where God wants to plant me.  Last year, I was a sideline participant in many of my children’s activities, and only moderately involved in Trey’s school.  This year, I am playing a more active role in my children’s lives, and am building relationships not only with Trey’s teachers but also his classmates.

The last year has brought many changes – some known and some completely unexpected – but I can honestly say that most of them have been good ones.  I’m content with where I am, and am excited about what lies ahead in the coming year.  I think my best days are yet to come!

So bring on year #40.  I know it’ll be filled with great and not-so-great moments.  But I’ll be sharing it with great friends and my wonderful family…and hopefully some cute new clothes here and there as well.  What more could a girl ask for?
