Okay, this falls under the “Give me a break” category:
Santas in Australia have been told not to say “Ho Ho Ho” because it’s demeaning to women and could frighten children. Yeah, I’m sure a 2-year-old isn’t offended by a complete and total stranger in a hot wool suit, long beard and frighteningly red cheeks who wants to take him/her away from mommy to have another complete stranger squealing and acting wild at him/her trying to get said child to smile for a picture. No, that’s not what frightens children. It’s the fact that Jolly Old St. Nick is calling that child’s mother a derogatory name.
Instead, Sydney’s Santas have been told to say, “Ha Ha Ha”. Hmm….while little children are sitting on their laps. I won’t even touch that one.
