The Morning After

Well, my birthday weekend of fun continued.

Last night was the big birthday bash – complete with lots of foolishness, too much food, and great times with friends.  Today was a bit more – shall we say – subdued.

We decided not to push going to the 8:30 service and instead opted for the 10:00.  It was Dan’s first experience to visit our new church home.  Worship was great, the message was terrific (as always), and then the drama team presented something that was truly fantastic…a re-enactment of a music video of the song “Give Me Your Eyes” by Brandon Heath.  To see something like that done onstage was amazing.  I can’t locate the video of this performance, so here are some still photos:

The still photos (though great – thanks, Pam!) don’t really do the performance justice.  I’ll share the youtube link just so you can see the real thing.  The song is powerful, and to see acted live gave me chill bumps.  And motivated me to do more – to BE more – for Him.

After being fed spiritually, it was time to feed ourselves physically!  We met at the brand-new Uncle Julio’s in the long-awaited Villages at Allen.  We figured after some good ol’ Texas BBQ last night we needed Dan & David to enjoy some yummy Tex-Mex before heading home.  And Uncle Julio’s definitely has that.

My brothers had one more surprise up their sleeves apparently.  At the end of the meal, I was presented with a plate full of sopapillas with a birthday candle and was serenaded one more time, this time with a more appropriate version of “Happy Birthday.”

If you look closely, you’ll see that there is actually a little candle in the sopapillas.  At my age it’s getting harder to do even the most simple tasks, so Crisana helped me blow out the candle.

We shared the sopapillas around the table and enjoyed one more photo op before lunch was over.

Uncle Crisana and Uncle David

You can’t hear it, but Mom is going MMMM-WAH!  A true Mom-smoochy kiss for Dan!

Trey & Matt – two of a kind, for sure!
