Celebrate!

We must be getting old.  This is the second year in a row we’ve attended a graduation for one of our children.

This year, it was Crisana’s turn.  Again.  She graduated from kindergarten!

The teachers had planned a whole morning of celebration for the students.  It all began with a program in the gym.  The children had been instructed to wear denim and white.  Of course Crisana also wanted to wear her “high heels.”  Despite the fact that she towered over most of her classmates, she looked cute and was so proud.

The program began with Mr. Forsyth saying a few introductory remarks, then the students serenaded us with a couple of their favorite songs.  Please forgive the sideways video.  Due to the number of heads in front of me, the only way I could get an acceptable video was to turn the camera upright…and I’m not enough of a geek to figure out how to rotate the video.  Just turn your computer monitor sideways for a couple of minutes and all will be right.

First was the “Yogi Bear” song:

Then it was the old standby “Tony Chestnut”

Following that, Mr. McGowen shared a few words of encouragement with the children and their parents.

After the program was over, we all headed back to the individual classrooms where the students received their certificates and we enjoyed punch and cookies.  Crisana had made a memory book of kindergarten which she shared with us.

She was so proud to receive her certificate signifying a successful end to kindergarten!

Someone had brought in special cupcakes for the students.  I felt a little sorry for Ms. Sifferman just looking at the amount of frosting on those treats.

And of course there was plenty of time for pictures with friends.  It’ll be interesting to see how they compare to the pictures we’ll take in 11 years.

With a big round of thanks to Ms. Sifferman for all her hard work this year!
