New Year’s 2008 was just like old times! Our old aquaintances weren’t forgot, and neither were those days of auld lang syne.
We once again reconnected with the Stueve clan for an evening of food, fun, food, celebrating, food, togetherness, and food. Since three of the Stueves celebrate December birthdays we made a cake and each one got a candle to blow out.
Of course we sang “Happy Birthday” a little late for all three of them, but they didn’t seem to mind too much.
And then it was time to blow out the candles!
We spent the rest of the night noshing, playing games, listening to the thundering of not-so-little feet on the second story as our kids played the night away. And suddenly, like Cinderella, we found ourselves oh-so-close to midnight and not a drop of the bubbly poured. We quickly paused the DVR so we could ring in the new year on our schedule and poured the celebratory sparkling beverages (non-alcoholic for the children, of course). Once we were ready, we unpaused our life and the countdown began:

Shortly after midnight, we hustled the children off to bed and found ourselves collapsing around 1 A.M. We awoke the next morning and fixed a yummy breakfast (which didn’t get eaten until 11:00) and enjoyed a relaxing and liesurely day of hanging around, playing more games, and eating more food than I care to admit. Finally, around 5:00 P.M. the Stueve’s packed up and headed home, with full hearts, full bellies and full of memories.
It was a great way to begin what we hope will be a great year for both our families.
