Threads of Gratitude: “Sew” Grateful

You know what?  I’m really blessed.

I’m blessed with a wonderful family.  A family that makes me laugh, cry, and pull my hair out.  A family that keeps me on my toes and grounds me to this earth.  A family that makes my life crazy and keeps me sane.  I couldn’t live  without ’em and I sure do love ’em.

I’m blessed with tremendous friends.  Friends who inspire me, who encourage me, who challenge me, who support me.  New friends who get excited about common interests we share.  Old friends who are comfortable to be around.  Friends who share my burdens and make them easier to bear.  Friends who work alongside me and make the tasks fun.  Friends who know my quirks and insecurities and love me anyway.

I’m blessed with a job that I love.  I have nearly 25 precious piano students who challenge me professionally to be the best teacher I can be, but make my heart swell with pride when I hear what they have accomplished.  I have had the opportunity to substitute in nearly every grade level at McGowen, and am greeted with armfuls of hugs and smiles whenever I step through the doors of the school.  I have the flexibility and freedom to tailor my schedule however I need to in order to be a good wife and mother.

And I’m blessed with a God that Provides.  Jehovah Jireh…He IS providing.  The economy is tanking, but my studio is increasing with what economists consider to be a luxury expense for most families.  I’m now a “preferred sub” for three teachers in three grade levels at McGowen and have the privilege of being the first one they call when they need a substitute.  We received an unexpected “bonus” from an unexpected source recently which will help cover the shortfall in Matt’s salary while he is on short term disability.  And – not insignificantly – we have amazing insurance that is covering the cost of Matt’s treatments, including one drug alone that costs over $12,000 a pop, at 100% once we meet our deductible.  It’s definitely “by faith” living, but we are seeing firsthand the way that Jehovah Jireh is living up to His name…and it’s exciting!
