I love our pastor.

No, silly, not like that.

I love the passion he has for scripture.  I love the way he makes Bible stories come alive.  I love being under the umbrella of his teaching.  And I love the way he makes application – yes, I said it, application – such a relevant and important part of every message.

Today, we had a most unusual service.  No true “sermon” per se but rather a morning of preparation for our upcoming study of the book of Romans.  A study entitled “Re-Thinking the Truth”, designed to dig deeper into the truths of our faith and the basis for what we believe.  We took communion, we reviewed memory verses, we spent time in prayer and worship.  And we were commissioned.  As a church body, filled with working adults – whether compensated or not – we were commissioned to be salt and light to a dark and tasteless world.

And then, the kicker.  Why truth?  Why this study?  Because of conversations like this:
