AI Predictions: The Final 12

Last night it was all about the 80’s.  Techno pop, punk rock, heavy metal, and the end of disco.  Does it get any better than that?  I don’t think so.  The 80’s ruled as far as I’m concerned…if only because I recognize the songs and can remember most of the words.  Geez, that makes me sound old.

Overall, the guys rocked it, dawg.  I gotta give the girls their props, but the boys just outshined, outsang, and outperformed the girls by a mile.  Unfortunately, it’s against the rules to have 8 guys and 4 girls, so we must say goodbye tonight to our final 4 wannabes.  I’ve scored a perfect 50% so far, so let’s see if I can get it right this time.

For the guys:

Again, I say: it was tougher for any guy not named David.  Although David Hernandez has fallen far, far from my graces due to his indiscretions, I do think his performance was strong enough to overcome the horrendous rumors and he will live to make it into the top 12.  David Archuleta and David Cook wowed the crowd with unique takes on “Another Day in Paradise” and “Hello” (Lionel Richie with electric guitar?  Who knew!)  Michael Johns may have redeemed himself with his rendition of Simple Minds’ “Don’t You Forget About Me” and Chekieze once again swooned the chicks with his winning smile and soulful singing.  Sitting squarely on the bubble are Luke, Danny & Jason.  Gone: Luke & Danny.  Which is unfortunate, because I believe Luke deserves to make it into the final 12.

For the girls:

It was a rough night for any girl not named David.  Wait, that’s not right.  It was a tough night for the girls.  While some girls regained their top form (Asia’h), others failed to impress (Kady).  I think it will be an easier vote to decide which of the ladies continue to the top 12.  Brooke and Carly once again were top performers and from all indications are truly in it to win it.  Amanda, though she’s locked into a particular style, seemed to be more comfortable this week and issued a performance that I think will send her right through to the final 12.  On the bubble: Kristy, Ramiele, and Syesha.  Gone: Kady & Syesha.  Which again is unfortunate because I think Syesha deserves it more than Kristy or Amanda.  Oh well, I don’t vote so I can’t complain.
