South Beach update – Week 5

We’ve reached the point in our new “diet lifestyle” where we’re no longer keeping track of days, but weeks.  We have now completed the first two weeks on Phase 2 and will remain in this holding pattern until we reach our goal weights.

This has been a brutal week, South Beach Diet-wise.  First, we had the first week of school.  While great for allowing mommy some time to actually accomplish projects around the house, the hour-long sprint to fix three breakfasts, three snacks (one for Trey and two for Matt – morning and afternoon), two water-bottles, and three lunches while still feeding two pets, moderating wardrobe selections, assisting with teeth brushing, hair combing, and shoe-tying is enough to make any mom wonder “And I need to go to the gym…WHY?”  This year, my social calendar exploded during this first week of school, which made sticking with the diet downright HARD – but I did, or at least, I tried to make a conscious effort to stay away from the REALLY unhealthy choices and stick with choices that might be “better” or more healthful.

Despite setbacks and still enjoying a couple of desserts this week, the results this morning are:

Matt – 16.5 lbs (down a half pound from last week)

Debbi – 16.5 lbs (down a full pound from last week)

Both of us have pretty much shrunk out of our “fat clothes” to the point that they are almost unwearable (or look ridiculous when we do).  Matt is down a full waist size and I am down at least one – if not two – dress sizes.  To think that these results have been achieved in less than a month is exciting!  And we’re to the point where we’re not the only ones noticing these changes – others are starting to see the differences and comment, too.  That only provides further inspiration to keep on going…though it may be hard, we’re determined to press on until we reach the goal.
