In a previous post, I shared how one of the ladies in my Wednesday evening Bible study group begins our week with an email she entitles “Threads of Gratitude.” I am so grateful for this woman and the way she continually challenges me to live the Christian life beyond the status quo, and to live a life of full-out devotion to Him.
This morning, we received the following challenge:
Okay you all know when I began these threads of gratitude I felt like a complete geek, at times I still do. Over the last 3 days God has been talking to me, sometimes thru other people, sometimes just into my heart, but this is what I believe He is saying.
These threads of gratitude are cool, but can you bind them into a net? Can you be a fisherman of gratitude? What fish? ( that was my response) Okay so He went on and said. Mend a net of gratitude, a place for people to begin their week in “the world” in a position of gratitude. Make them remember to be grateful because from this posture I (God) can do much.
So ladies this is the next step He gave me to expand our threads together into a net. All of us have many circles of people we know, people we love, people we worship together with. God wants us to all have these threads sent out to our various circles to share our “threads of gratitude”. So maybe you can begin an email or phone call or communication device of your own choosing each Monday morning as we walk into “the world” to voice your gratitude and encourage others to lift up their gratitude.
So since I do my South Beach updates on Mondays, I’m going to do my net-mending on a different day. Thursday. A day when gratitude might be hard to come by. So share what you’re grateful for today. And if you don’t feel like posting a comment, write it down. Send an email to a friend. Someone needs to be encouraged today…and that someone might just be you!
My list be below the fold…read on for more.
Today, I am grateful for…
the privilege of being involved in my children’s lives daily.
being married to my very best friend.
God’s provision of 20 piano students…and growing!
letters of recommendation that allow me a glimpse of what others see in me…that I don’t often see in myself.
and as always, Diet Coke (with or without caffeine), chocolate, jeans that don’t fit, and a bathroom scale that is becoming my bff more and more every day.
Today I am grateful for:
_ some terrific students (polite, fun, and wanting to learn)
_ essened pain
_ some wonderful nieces and nephews who are exemplifying Christian values in their lives and in their parenting of the next generation
Thank you. 🙂
