South Beach update – Week 6

Matt is far more creative with his updates than I am with mine, but results are results, no matter how you present ’em.

We now enter week 6 of our “new” lifestyle and the pounds continue to drop! Totals thus far are:

Matt – 20.5

Debbi – 18.5

And no, it doesn’t bother me that Matt has lost more than I have. For one thing, it’s only two pounds. Phooey, I’ll sweat that off at the gym this morning. And another thing, he had more to lose. So it was bound to happen at some point. And I’m truly okay with that because, frankly, we both look great.

Not supermodel great, mind you, but we’re-fitting-into-smaller-clothes-great. And our-bulges-are-smaller great. And we-don’t-even-have-bulges-in-certain-places-anymore great.

Because of the “Biggest Loser” contest at SHW, we’re still limiting our carbs to only one per day and eating more Phase 1-friendly. This weekend, I used two old gift cards from Borders to pick up a “South Beach Quick and Easy Cookbook” with recipes that use 10 or fewer ingredients and take 30 minutes or less to prepare. We enjoyed breadless turkey meatballs for dinner on Saturday night that were really yummy. We’re still learning how to apply our new eating habits to the “real world”, experiencing some trial and error along the way. But doing this together has made all the difference, and it shows!
