As with any marathon, you reach a point where you’re just “in the zone” and your body is cruising on autopilot.
And then there’s the point where you hit “the wall.”
In some regards, I feel like we’re starting to really get the hang of this lifestyle. In some respects, we’re totally “in the zone.” We’ve become accustomed to reading menus and labels carefully. We’ve grown acclimated to high-protein, low-carb breakfasts and dinners. We’re faithfully drinking lots of water and have reduced our caffeine consumption significantly.
But still, there are moments when I just want to throw in the towel. It’s too hard. The grocery bills are too expensive. It’s too stressful with my schedule to try to fix 4 separate breakfasts, 3 snacks, 3 lunches in the morning and try to have a hot dinner that pleases everyone ready at a reasonable hour in the evening. Some days, I just want to quit.
Thank God, He is full of grace. And that grace extends to our bathroom scale.
Despite a few days of straying from the plan, despite indulging in some emotional eating, despite a couple of poor choices throughout the week, we have both once again recorded losses:
Matt – 27.0 lbs (down 1.5 lbs from last week)
Debbi – 24.5 lbs. (down 1.5 lb. from last week)
We actually both hit lows that were lower than those totals this week, but our crazy weekend schedule contributed to a few too many “indulgences” that caused our weigh-in to be a little higher this morning.
The week ahead is overwhelming. Daunting. Emotionally, physically, mentally, we will be stretched to the very limits of our endurance. I can’t guarantee I’ll be “in the zone.” But hopefully, I’ll be able to avoid hitting the wall. We’ve both passed the halfway points and are thrilled with how easy it’s been. Now is the time for us to deepen our resolve, maintain our focus, and draw on His strength until the finish line is in sight.
