I hear Cricuts chirping

And that’s a good thing!

For those of you who are non-scrappers (gasp!), I must explain that a Cricut (pronounced like the insect, cricket) is a really cool, must-have, how-did-I-ever-live-without-it scrapping tool.   It slices!  It dices!  It makes pure mincemeat out of cardstock!  But wait!  There’s more!!  You can also use the special pens to have the Cricut write titles, journaling, or tags just like that!  Oh, the possibilities are endless!

Now before you start to think I’m going to whip out some toll-free number for you to call, I will say that before I had my wonderful Cricut, I would spend literally hours cutting out letters by hand to use for my page titles.  And my dear friend Angie would cringe at the fact that the middles of my a’s and o’s and b’s and p’s were just a little jagged.  Oh, I tried using an exacto knife.  I even tried a crafting knife.  But as you may recall, I am woefully challenged in the coordination department, so me and and an exacto knife are a frightening combination.   I’ve used the Cricut on a whopping two layouts and it’s already been my salvation.

And, since you already couldn’t care any less, I’m going to bore you further with pictures of my layouts created with my new, wonderful, heaven-sent machine:

This layout was created with the font cartridge “Keystone” for the words “A” and “Day”.  I used the font cartridge “George” for the word “‘spook’tacular” – printing normally for the orange and shadow for the black.  My nifty little xyron 150 (I love that machine, too) helped me with adhering the letters to the shadow.  This layout was scraplifted (and believe me, I use that term VERY loosely) from the December/January issue of Scrapbooks, Etc.  The topic of “Why Debbi Shouldn’t Scraplift” will be covered in a different post.

This layout was created using the font cartridge “Keystone” for all the lettering: shadow for the black and normal for the red.  Again, my little xyron 150 got quite the workout adhering all those letters, but this layout took me less than an hour to create from start to finish and I was quite pleased with the results.   This layout, which came completely from my own brain, further underscores the topic of “Why Debbi Shouldn’t Scraplift” which will be covered in greater detail some other time.

All this as a reward for being a good girl this year.  I am kissing Santa’s feet as we speak.

  1. Glad to see you are using it like a pro! I guess we’ll have to hangout sometime and cri-cut (get it? cut? cuz it cuts?) together. I’ll bring mine. It’ll be a BYOC!
