Monday Morning QB Recap, Redux

What a day yesterday was!  Even though I was only interested in two games, there were several events that as a football fan, I could not ignore: (stay with me, Angie, there’s something for you at the end!)

San Diego vs. Minnesota:  A couple of records in this game.  First, Antonio Cromartie runs back a missed field goal attempt 109 yards for a score at halftime.  Amazing play, but more amazing considering this is a record that can NEVER be broken.  And I said it first, to Matt, when we saw the replay.  Second, Adrian Peterson runs for a record-breaking 296 yards in only his 8th professional game.  This kid’s got game.  It’ll be fun to watch him develop over the years.

Detroit vs. Denver:  Matt always enjoys a thorough pasting of any team from Colorado, particularly those that hail near Denver.  And yesterday, those Broncos had their manes stripped and their hides skinned by the Lions of Detroit.  As if allowing 44 points to score wasn’t insulting enough, having a player wearing a jersey in the 90’s intercept a “pass” and run it back for a score was just adding injury.  While he certainly wasn’t fast enough to outrun anyone, ain’t nobody in the offensive backfield big enough to bring him down.

But the REAL games were:

Pats vs. Colts:  For nearly 4 quarters, the Pats were truly outplayed.  The Colts moved the ball with amazing ability.  The Patriots seemed to struggle on nearly every possession and the defense gave up yardage in leaps and bounds.  But never fear, at some point destiny kicked in and the Patriots scored 14 unanswered points in the 4th quarter to take the lead with only a couple minutes left.  That was all they needed.  The rumble is over, the dust has settled, and the Pats remain undefeated, 9-0.

Cowboys vs. Eagles:  It’s never fun to play in chilly Philly for our ‘boys.  Especially the one wearing #81.  But I got my popcorn ready and enjoyed every minute of this game.  The ‘boys dominated from start to finish, and Tony Romo played like the million-dollar guy he now is.  A first-round playoff win is no longer enough from this team.  They better make it to the NFC championship!

And now, so my dear friend Angie is not completely lost..  Last Friday, I wore some of my new jewelry with a new blouse I bought on sale at Kohl’s.  I wore a pair of earrings that you made for me last Christmas, and they worked perfectly with the jewelry and the blouse!  I was so accessorized, girl!  You would have been proud.
