Half a century…wow, that’s a long time

Yesterday, my brother David celebrated a birthday.  Not just any birthday, mind you.  He turned 50.  Yep.  Five-oh.

We enjoyed celebrating his birthday with him while he was here in August for the DTS chapel.  We made a yummy South-Beach-friendly dinner of grilled steak, mashed “potatoes”, veggies and salad.  We enjoyed a non-South-Beach friendly carrot cake for dessert.  We played a game of “Are You Smarter than a 50-Year-Old”…a trip down memory lane for David.  His memory is already failing as he managed to get one question wrong.

I couldn’t let this day pass, however, without offering a very special rendition of happy birthday.  Even though it was originally written for a woman, most of it still applies.  Enjoy, and welcome to the “Old Farts”, David!

  1. You think the guy could at least tune the guitar. Or play the right chords. I didn’t even recogize the tune untill the second verse! Too funny! The doctored lyrics are funny!!

  2. Or sing on pitch on the chorus. That was painful. But it was written for his ex-wife, so I guess he wasn’t trying to do a bang-up job.

This one had me laughing out loud at 5:30 this morning.
