Back in August, I posted about signing the kids up for soccer this fall and how Crisana was convinced she was going to play in pink cleats.
Here it is, now November, with only two games left in the season, and I have yet to post a single picture or game description. And what’s worse, my daughter is playing in *gasp* black cleats…that were hand-me-downs from her brother!
I have got to be the worst mother ever.
So in this post, I set out to remedy that. For my first step toward redemption, I will say that although I could not get pink cleats for Crisana, I did manage to get her pink shin guards. No matter that no one else sees them, she knows they’re pink and that’s enough.
As parents, we’ve enjoyed watching our children learn and grow in their skills. Both Trey and Crisana have scored at least one goal each this season, which we have celebrated mightily with them. We have been so proud of their awards, with both of them earning Most Christlike or Best Sportsmanship more than once. The coaches have seemed to take a genuine interest in them and have been very encouraging as we’ve progressed through the season. And though it’s been fun, we’re ready for the season to be over.
And so, I leave you with a few pictures. Not many – but just enough to give you a taste of our Saturdays for the past two months. They may not be the world’s greatest atheletes, but these kids sure are cute!
First, the players are introduced as they run through the tunnel…
…then the players line up on the field…
…sometimes the action gets a little crowded…
…and other times it’s just you and the ball.
But it’s always about doing your best and giving it your all.
And after the game, we enjoy a snack and time to rest and celebrate our Upward Winners!
Congratulations to the great soccer players and the end of soccer season!
